It is the policy of GCL to maintain our membership list and all
personal information supplied to us by each of our members in strict confidence.
We will not sell, share or otherwise disclosed such information to anyone except
in the following circumstances:
1) In response to a subpoena served on an officer of Club; and
2) In our newsletter, Website, email and press announcements and releases
concerning competitions and events, held at or which are to be held at the Club
or under GCL's auspices. Disclosures in this latter case shall be limited to the
information necessary to fulfill the Club's needs to report on and publicize the
activity in question (such as the member's name and score in a competition or
the names of members running an event).
In the prior case, GCL will not challenge the validity of any subpoena served
upon it or notify any member who is the subject of such subpoena of its service,
except to give written notice, when permitted by law, to any person specifically
named in the subpoena, as soon as may be convenient, by ordinary mail, to the
mailing address then contained in the Club’s membership list.
Any member wishing to preserve his or her anonymity in the latter case must
personally make every effort to exclude his or her identity from report (such as
using an alias on his or her score card at a match and avoiding situations in
which he or she is likely to be photographed or reported upon as a participant
in an event). In addition such member must make a request to be excluded from
all statements, publications and reports of all competitive scores, in writing,
and in deliver the same to the President of Club by certified mail, return
receipt requested. That request must contain an alias by which he or she wishes
to be known. Such notice will be effective 30 days after its receipt.
G.C.L. will use its best efforts to honor each member's request for anonymity.
Members should be aware, however, that the Club undertakes no duty to preserve
any member’s anonymity and cannot control statements, observations and reports
made by the members of the Club and others, whether they are invited to the
premises or not. Furthermore, GCL cannot control the observations of casual
observers nor can it insure the privacy of any member.
This policy may be amended from time to time or discontinued without further
notice.
So Adopted by unanimous vote 9/20/01
Bob Kaimer, Secretary.
